Community volunteers are a fundamental part of the Steppin Stones Professional Supervision model.
Volunteers may assist with supervised visits and are typically assigned to work with one family at a time in order to build consistency and trust.
Volunteers contribute based on their availability, whether a few hours each month or more regular participation.
All volunteers must complete:
• screening and interviews
• background checks
• professional training
• confidentiality agreements
• neutrality and ethics training
Training includes approximately 24 hours of education similar to professional supervision training requirements used in other states such as California.
Volunteer orientation includes instruction on:
• supervised visitation ethics
• mandated reporting
• trauma awareness
• domestic violence dynamics
• documentation practices
• safety protocols
